Benefits of Serving as an ASCE Officer

To become an officer, you have to be actively involved for at least a year, and demonstrate your dedication to fellow members. Elections are held every April, except for the Corresponding Secretary who is elected in January.

The below list the structure and reorganization of the current ASCE chapter. This new leadership organization will promote more active members to take roles in the club. This also helps focus selected members on certain task in the management and success of ASCE.


  1. "Board of Student Officers"- B.S.O.
    1. President - Leader/Representative of ASCE
      • Attend all UCF Official business
      • Stay in contact with Faculty and ASCE Nationals
      • Creates and follows up on Goals
      • Rewards each week for hard work. (Gift cards)
      • Florida Section every 3 months with secretary
      • Set up Rooms
    1. Vice President - Executive Vice President
      • Will Head the "Committee of Student Officers"
        1. Will take place on 30 minutes prior to B.S.O. Meeting.
        2. Collect C.O.S. reports
      • Will Report all actives with in Committee and submit all weekly C.O.S. reports.
      • Will send out a weekly newsletter
    1. Secretary - Takes Attendance, Notes, Handles all paperwork
      • The secretary will file all reports from each meeting.
      • Maintain Meeting minutes
      • Will manage all paperwork and file accordingly with the Corresponding Secretary.
      • Attend East Central branch meeting every month
      • Attend the Florida Section ASCE meeting every 3 months with the President
    1. Treasurer - Financial advisor
      • Will collect and go after donations from sponsor
      • Keep in touch with Engineering Senators
      • Maintain a budget
      • Submit a weekly account Summary of Club funds
        1. Show all expenses
        2. Include all Incomes
    1. Recruitment Officer - Recruit (One of the Most Important jobs)
      • Will attend all events in the summer pertaining to recruitment
        1. Will be in contact with LINK
        2. Stay in contact with SGA for designated club days
      • Will be in charge of setting up the ASCE table and managing the students to be at the tables
        1. Monthly Table in atrium that will be an official rush day of the month
      • Keep track of all new members and report a new member count at each meeting
  1. "Committee of Student Officers" - C.S.O.
      • Will meet 30min before the B.S.O. Meeting
      • Headed up by the Vice President
      • Will include the following committees:
    1. Career Services Officer - Job Opportunities
      • In Contact with all Companies and will be dealing with job opportunities and internships
      • Will help treasurer with contacting companies for sponsorships donations
      • Will be in charge finding speakers for meetings
      • Keep list of all scholarships
    1. Community Service Officer - Design and Track Community Service
      • Will make arrangements for Community Service events.
      • Manage an average of 5 Hours per semester for each member.
      • Keep tract of Hours spent on Competition preparation.
    1. Marketing Officer - Promotions
      • Will make all T-Shirts and Create ways to advertise the club
      • Will sell Merchandise to Faculty / Sponsors and other members
      • Will order from ASCE Supplies to Recruit
      • Forward all money to Treasurer
    1. Fundraising Officer - Fundraise
      • See FE Manuals
      • Creates various Fundraisers
      • Forwards money to Treasurer
    1. Corresponding Secretary - Works with Secretary
      • Helps Secretary with paper work
        1. File paperwork
        2. Keep tract of all events
      • Will write the annual report
    1. Regional Director - Coordinates Competition trip.
      • Sets up Hotel and Plans the Trip to conference.

        2. Will present bill to Senate with President

      • Will take pictures at all events and meeting
      • Create a database for pictures for each event
      • Will work with the Web Master, Community Service Officer and Secretary
